Our team of associated orthopedic surgeons are esteemed experts in their field and are always abreast of the latest developments in joint care. Day Kimball Hospital’s Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) staff will work closely with you prior to surgery to administer thorough pre-surgical testing and to ensure that you are informed and comfortable about what to expect on the day of surgery. And physical therapy and occupational therapy services are available through our Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation department to help you with strengthening exercises both before and after surgery, for the best possible recovery.
The combined expertise of our integrated care team and the availability of the latest technologies in total joint replacement surgery has allowed us to consistently reduce the length of our patients’ hospital stays while enhancing functional outcomes.
We’re proud of our exceptional services and integrated team approach to hip and knee replacement surgery, and we want you to be an active part of that team. Research has shown that the more informed and active patients are leading up to surgery, the more likely they are to positively impact their own recovery and achieve the results they desire and expect. That’s why our patients who are having a total joint replacement participate in our Joint Academy of Northeast Connecticut, a program designed to provide information and education about the steps required to achieve a successful hip or knee replacement.
This comprehensive program will provide you with vital education prior to your surgery about how to prepare, what to expect during the procedure, and what you can do to aid your recovery after surgery. The program will also guide you through the PAT process and pre-surgical physical therapy.
Joint Academy education sessions are held at 2:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month in the Robert H. Field Conference Center at Day Kimball Hospital. Patients who have been indicated for surgery are scheduled to attend a session. Members of the public who would like more information on the procedures are welcome to drop in for the session as well.
Billing for surgical procedures will be submitted to your insurance carrier by more than one party; the physician’s practice for surgical services, Day Kimball Hospital for facility services and NAPA Anesthesia for anesthesiology services. Please check with your insurance carrier for details about your specific coverage, copays, deductibles, provider participation and any prior authorization requirements. If you have questions about your Day Kimball Hospital bill or need help paying for care, please contact our team of financial counselors.
